Handmade Soap Review!
I thought long and hard about doing this review & letting you all know what happened. But I just thought it was important. This is my own experience with this site & the maker of these products. It happened to me, DOES not mean it will happen to you. But just be aware of the people you deal with, or the sites you choose to order from. Do your research VERY well, before going on with ordering online. I was on fear of ordering online for many years, because I was SCARED that something like this would happen. But hey, NOW I know not to order from her site any LONGER. You learn from your mistakes. Thank you for watching & take care everyone!

what happens when you add handmade soap with a)1.0 ml of 1.0M CaCl2 b) 1.0 ml of 1.0MgCl2?
You will synthesise soap scum or bath tub ring. Both of these materials react with 2 soap molecules to produce a waxy, insoluble material.
Soap is a variety of fatty acid sodium salts, but if we just call "soap" C15H29C(O)ONa, it reacts like this.
2 C15H29C(O)ONa + CaCl2 –> Ca[OC(O)C15H29]2 + 2 NaCl
Frankenstein My New Creation (aka Felted Soap Bar)
So you ask, what is new with handmade soap? That’s easy, it is the newest craze called felted soap bars, and this is something I didnt see coming. Wool roofing is felted around a bar of handmade soap to make sort of a soap with a washcloth completely around it.
First time I saw this I was amazed, and I thought to myself now this would be a great product. So without hesitation, I ran to my test lab (AKA the kitchen) and I grabbed my wool and my handmade soap and began to create my frankenstein soap.
Now, if any of you have been to my website and read my “About Me” section at the bottom, you would know that my husband is my lab rat. He has dry sensitive skin so he made the perfect test subject for my new creation.
Without a moment to lose, I instructed my manly lab rat to hit the showers and I secretly replaced my sugar crub and my handmade soap with my frankenstien felted soap.
With the removal of temptation to use anything but the new creation, all I could do is just sit and wait.
As I hear the water come on and by now my manly lab rat has figured out that there is something new in the maze. I hear him holler, “Hey! What is this, and what am I supposed to do with this? There is fur on the soap, and where’s my sugar scrub?”
Having heard that, I instructed my human tester to use the fuzzy soap just like he would normal soap, sometimes you have to give your human tester instructions, they’re cute but not too bright sometimes.
After a few minutes, I hear, “Hey! This stuff is cool, it really lathers up better than just soap, and I dont need a wash cloth!”
Woo hoo, my creation has passed the first test and my manly lab rat came out with a smile. My next victims, I mean subjects, would be my teen daughters, they are easy all I have to say to them is look girls, see how pretty it is and how great it smells give it a try.
Now, this would be the true test of durability because if any of you have teenage daughters you know their showers can last up to a minimum of 45 minutes, so after an hour and a half, they reported the success of trial number two, and they agreed as well, frankenstein was cool.
The final test would be me, and that was easy since all my lab rats passed, I could just go and enjoy the moment. I was convinced after my shower that it really did lather up great and my creation of Frankenstein (AKA felted soap bar) is ready for you.

Can I sell my handmade things without a tax ID online?
I make handmade lye soap and I want to know if I can sell it online or at a farmer’s market without a tax ID?
What do I need to be able to sell my soap online or at a farmer’s market or craft fair?
Can I get liability insurance without a state or federal tax ID?
Do you know of books or resources available that I can read to learn more about this?
If you are a sole proprietorship, you can use your SSN as your tax ID number.
You will need a business license, sellers permit, and maybe a health permit because of the product.
I would also have liability insurance because of the product.
There are plenty of books available on how to make money with crafting. Check your library, bookstore, or online.
How to get a swirl inside of handmade soap?
How do I make a swirl inside the middle of the soap like this one from etsy:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/49324931/summer-sale-wildewood-mint-and-nettle?ref=cat2_list_2
I don’t want the top swirls I just want one big swirl inside of the soap.
Do I just pour two different colors into each other?
Hi there!
Swirls are tricky, because they are very difficult to duplicate. Very few soapcrafters pour their soap at exactly the same temperature each time they make a loaf, and temperature can really affect how the swirls turn out. Thicker pours (usually at lower temperatures) result in thicker bands of swirling, whereas thinner (hotter) pours will give you thinner, wispier bands of swirls. Your pouring technique will also affect your swirling.
To make the swirl seen at that Etsy site, I suggest this. First you have to make a swirling tool, because using a whisk, or fork, or anything usual, is not going to give you that one big "wave" look. You need an "L" shaped tool, whose bottom of the "L" is almost as long as your mold. I would suggest using a wire coat hanger. Straighten it out, and bend it at a right angle. The bottom of the "L" is going to go the length of your mold, creating one big horizontal rod in the middle of your loaf. The vertical side will be your handle. You may even want to form a loop at that end so it’s easier to hold on to.
Now it’s time to make your batter. Divide it in half, and tint each half to a color you like. Pour half of one soap into the bottom of a rectangular mold, NOT taking too much care really to make it pretty or even, just as long as it covers the whole bottom. Then pour half of the other color over it. Continue alternating until everything is in the mold
Holding the "Up and Down" side of the "L" shaped tool, slide it into your mold along one of the long sides– right against the mold so that you disturb your soap as little as possible. Then, imagine that bottom edge of the "L" being like an axle on a car, and make it "spin" in your soap, in a BIG CIRCLE, by lifting and turning the vertical side of the "L." You may want to do a few circles, to really make sure that swirl forms. End where you began. Lift it out again, being sure to drag it up the edge of your mold so as not to disturb your newly created swirl.
You won’t know it’s worked until you unmold it and slice it. After one trial, you should get a better idea of how many turns you need to make, and whether you want to pour thinner, thicker, or with more/less alternating additions of each color. Take detailed notes so that you can really perfect your technique with practice.
Happy swirling! Take a peek at a swirl I did last week. It’s pictured on my blog: www.barsoapnatural.com/blog/
Where can i buy handmade, hand carved, soap?

Wholesale Soap Loaves the Great Bargain
Wholesale soap loaves are a great bargain rather you’re using them for resale in your shop or at a craft stand, you’re using them for party favors at a wedding or baby shower, using them for holiday or birthday gifts, or you’re using them for personal use at home. When purchasing these homemade soap loaves from an online wholesale dealer you will find that they come in a variety of different fragrances, designs, and colors. Wholesale soap loaves can also be made out of one of many various natural materials which include but are not limited to olive oil, goat’s milk and other specialty milks, and soy in addition to many more.
Purchasing wholesale soap loaves is a great bargain because it is equivalent to buying soap in bulk but all in one convenient loaf instead of individually wrapped bars, which also might I add is a great way to reduce waste since you won’t have all that extra packaging. You will get one loaf that is approximately three to four pounds in weight, about eight inches long, roughly four to five inches wide, and two-and-a-half inches in height and it cuts up to be eleven separate bars of handmade soap. Typically each individual slice will retail for about five to six dollars a piece while the loaf itself costs only a little over twenty dollars. That means it’s possible to make a profit of nearly a hundred dollars! Now you can see why wholesale handmade soaps are the great bargain.
Even if you do not run a retail shop or craft table there are still a great many other reasons to buy wholesale soap loaves. These soaps also make great bargain gifts that your receivers will truly enjoy for the holidays, birthdays, and/or wedding or party favors. You can place the soap slices cut from the soap loaves in individual bags, which will often times come with your purchase of a wholesale soap loaf, and add them to gift baskets, place them in mini gift boxes, or stack them and tie a ribbon around them and pass them out as gifts simply just like that. Either way your special gift recipients will absolutely love them and that’s just before they get a chance to use them. After they try them they will really love them!
Finally, possibly one of the greatest things about handmade loaves of soap is that you know exactly what kind of materials they’re made out of and there is less of a chance that there might be hidden chemicals in them that cling to your skin and dry it out or irritate it and cause you to break out in a rash. Each handmade soap loaf is typically made with a particular natural material which is usually described either in the packing information or on the company’s website. Knowing this is great if you are planning on reselling the loaves or slices of the loaves retail as your customers will love knowing exactly what materials they are using on their skin plus they can try different variations of the handmade soaps that are made out of different natural materials and then decide which materials and products suit them and their skin type the best.
With all the great uses and the great features regarding wholesale handmade soaps it is difficult not to see why they are such a great bargain. I’m sure that if you think about it for just a minute you can come up with a reason to buy wholesale handmade soaps and you can soon be sharing in the great bargain that they are.

And if I wanted to make handmade soap for a girl (whom I love very much) would she find that weird or gayish of me? (I am a man by the way)
Thanks for any help.
I dont really have a clue how to make soap, but I,for one, love the idea!!!! Thats is so not gayish, its beautiful, thoughtful n flattering,Im a women just giving you my opinion on it
My preteen daughter started making soap as a craft. Good business?
She would like to make a kid business out of it – maybe for charity. Any ideas how to make a success of the handmade soap business on a shoestring?
Let’s just remember that this type of endeavor involves everyone in the family. It’s a time and commitment issue. Until she can drive herself and commit her own time, it affects everyone. Have her give the soap as gifts and be happy with that.
